Dexys Midnight Runners (https://www.nme.com/artists/dexys-midnight-runners) have unveiled their debut album Love, featuring the wistful single ‘My Life In England Pt. 1’ and a mix of UK/Europe tour dates. This marks the band’s first record under the new label since 1985’s ‘Don’t Stand Me Down’. The album, produced by David Holmes (Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds), explores frontman Kevin Rowland’s journey through his Irish roots, family ties, and late-life experiences, reimagined for this album. Rowland explained how the music reflects his childhood memories, such as the 1920 IRA soldier executed on November 1, which he recalls vividly. He notes that the song was inspired by his mother’s warnings during a night of drinking and illegal singing. The album touches on themes of loss and reconciliation, drawing parallels to his own upbringing in north-west London, where many second-generation Irish children were raised in America. The tour lineup includes limited-edition signings at major venues, with a live stripped-down performance at the Royal Concert Hall in London.
